No, that isn’t a tree growing in our driveway. That’s a Norway maple branch which broke off during Sunday night’s fierce winds and, miraculously, hit no one, nothing as it crashed to the ground. Tilting backwards, that impressively thick branch—and its leafy, smaller branches—then nestled against the building next door. Today, while more than a half-million people in New England are still without power because of other, less felicitous broken-off branches, ours has already been sawed into manageable bits. So tonight, on All Hallow’s Eve, as I’ll pass out Snickers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I’ll take time between doorbell responses to consider Life’s tenuousness. And its preciousness.

Here in my beloved state of Iowa it is very prone to having tornadoes. More than a decade ago I must have been absolutely exhausted because I slept through a tornado that we had. Upon awakening I saw outside that a ginormous tree branch had broken off from the fierce winds just missing hitting my apartment building and the very same side of the apartment complex where my apartment was located!!!!! WOW!!!!! Was that a close call very much indeed!!!!!!
Sisterfriend, I so miss giving out candy to children on All Hallow's Eve!!!!! Because I live in an apartment building that is an enclosed area being an apartment complex I'm thinking that parents don't want their children to go inside of an apartment building. Even if children did come to our apartment complex we have locked security doors at our apartment complex so people cannot just walk into the building. Visitors have to be buzzed in to gain entry into the apartment complex.
Sister, I'm just so, so very filled with such blessed joy because of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. WOW, was our very devoted and dedicated Martin Luther such a very powerful and positive agent of change and reform here for certain. I for a time had been a member of a couple of Lutheran churches when I was in my twenties. I so loved the Lutheran Church and I had become a member of the Lutheran Church shortly after leaving the Catholic Church. When I left the Lutheran Church after a several years it was due to feeling like I couldn't be open and honest about being gay and that I had to hide that!!!!! WOW, that just broke my heart, Patricia!!!!! I'm just so, so very blessed in my very life and eternally blessed to have my so, so very precious and special church where I've been a rejoicing and proud member since the 1990s here in my beloved Iowa City, Iowa called Faith United Church Of Christ!!!!! Here I can be an open, out, rejoicing and proud Christian lesbian woman!!!! It is an Open and Affirming church!!!!! WOW, I feel just so, so very incredibly blessed, Patricia!!!!!
